Project overview

Crane Group is a family-owned investment company in Columbus, Ohio that invests in business, people and good.

Cosmick Media designed a WordPress and Elementor website that tells the company’s story and makes its case study results easy to see.

Project write-up

Crane Group is a family-owned company based in Columbus, Ohio. It invests in businesses that share its values, and it puts real time and money into its people and community. The company sums it up in three words: business, people and good. That made it a refreshing investment company website design project.

We designed a website that tells that story clearly. The Crane Group site is built in WordPress with Elementor, so the team can manage pages and articles on their own.

The challenge

However, most investment firm websites look alike. Dark blue, stock photos of handshakes and vague promises. Crane Group is different, and the site needed to show it.

At the same time, the company wanted to speak to three audiences. First, business owners who might partner with them. Second, people who might join the team. And third, the nonprofits and neighbors Crane Group supports.

Our investment company website design

We built the navigation around the brand’s three pillars. As a result, each one gets its own page with a bold split-screen hero, a short statement and a clear next step:

  • Business explains how Crane Group partners with companies and links to case studies
  • People covers the culture and leadership team
  • Good shows community giving in four areas: arts, education, health and human services, and neighborhood and community

Case study results run across the homepage, such as “Growth from 26 to 60+ locations” and “Revenue growth from $0 to $168M.” Because these numbers do the selling, we let them stand on their own.

Real people, real photos

Rather than stock imagery, the site also uses photos of Crane Group’s own people at work and at community events. Combined with the deep green palette and simple type, the result feels warm and confident.

The Good page also features video, including a 75th anniversary giving story. For example, short “Watch” buttons sit right in the hero, so visitors can play them without scrolling.

Insights and easy updates

The Insights section holds articles on business, people, good and community, from leadership Q&As to stories from nonprofit partners. Because the site runs on Elementor, Crane Group’s team can publish posts and update pages without a developer.

Likewise, on phones each pillar page keeps its bold color block and video button, while the menu tucks into a simple icon.

The challenge

What the client brought to us.

Crane Group needed to stand apart from typical investment firm sites and speak to three audiences at once: business partners, future team members and the community.

Our approach

How we tackled it.

We organized the site around the three brand pillars, Business, People and Good, each with a split-screen hero, real photography and video.

Case study results run across the homepage, and an Insights section holds articles the team publishes in Elementor.
