Project overview

Puppies ‘N Love and Animal Kingdom is a family-owned group of five pet stores in Phoenix, Glendale, Tempe, Gilbert and Tucson. Frank Mineo Jr.’s father started the business in Buffalo, New York in 1966 and moved it to Arizona in 1978. We designed and built the Arizona pet store website for Puppies ‘N Love and Animal Kingdom, covering all five locations on one site.

The family runs the company on an “our puppies come first” philosophy, and buyers today ask hard questions about breeders. So each puppy listing had to show where the puppy came from, which store has it and how to reach that store. Therefore, the site pairs a live puppy catalog with clear pages on breeders, health care and the Homes for Life promise.

An Arizona pet store website for five stores and one family name

Every store has its own phone number, its own puppies and its own financing link. However, shoppers think of the brand as one company. For instance, someone in Gilbert may want to see a puppy that is sitting in the Tucson Mall store. The site needed to show every puppy in one place, then route the visitor to the right location.

For the design, we worked from the two store logos. A bold red carries through the buttons, banners and quiz panels, set against white and light gray. Clean Montserrat type keeps the long breeder and health pages readable, and a BBB A+ seal sits at the top of every page.

How the site helps families choose a puppy

We built a custom WordPress theme with WooCommerce managing the puppy catalog behind the scenes. Here is what it includes:

  • Puppies for Sale catalog. Listings pull from the stores’ PetKey inventory and filter by location, breed and gender. Each card shows the breeder name, USDA license number and buttons to call the store or request more information.
  • Puppy Matchmaker Quiz. Visitors answer questions about their home, kids, other pets and exercise habits, then see breeds rated for traits like adaptability and barking.
  • Homes for Life. This page explains that the parent company, CPI, takes back any dog it sold at no charge. It also lists rehomed dogs that are ready for new families.
  • Store by store financing. The Financing page has a short video and an Apply Now button for each of the five stores.
  • Puppies Near You pages. Local pages for ten Arizona cities, from Peoria to Sahuarita, point shoppers to the nearest store.
  • Contact routing. A Gravity Forms contact form asks which store the visitor wants and passes along the puppy ID when the request starts from a listing.

Trust content

In addition, the site carries breeder galleries, an About Us letter from Frank Mineo Jr., AKC STAR Puppy training class details and a Recommended Veterinarians page.

Run by the stores, day to day

The site runs on a custom WordPress theme with WooCommerce and Bootstrap, hosted on Kinsta with Cloudflare. As a result, staff can add kittens, post blogs and newsletters, and update sale banners on their own, while new puppies show up as the stores add them to inventory. The site also publishes an llms.txt file for AI search tools.
