Cosmick Media at Kinsta’s Agency Dinner in Philadelphia, and Why We Host With Kinsta
Kinsta recently brought a room full of WordPress agency owners together for dinner in Philadelphia, and Cosmick Media was there as a Kinsta Elite Partner. Our CEO, Carley Kuehner, and our COO, Kim Frassinelli, spent the evening with other agency leaders from around the region, talking shop with the team that hosts the websites we build and manage for our clients.
Dinner was at The Dandelion, the British pub at 18th and Sansom just off Rittenhouse Square. We were upstairs in the Dog Bar, a room covered in dog portraits, with porcelain dogs lined up on every shelf and three glass globes over the bar that spell out MAN’S BEST FRIEND. For an agency that has spent years working with pet stores across the country, it felt like we’d been seated in the right room. Kinsta also pointed out that The Dandelion’s own website is hosted on Kinsta, which we appreciated.

A dinner with no phones
Kinsta’s Jordan Jones hosted the night, and there was one rule: no phones. It sounds like a small thing. It isn’t. Nobody checked email between courses or stepped out for a client call. As a result, the conversation went well past the usual hosting and plugin talk. People showed off AI tools they had built for their own teams. They compared notes on client retention, and some found out they had crossed paths years ago. A few agencies even started new partnerships right there at the table. You can see Kinsta’s own recap on their Facebook page.
The food was great, and the tray of cupcakes at the end didn’t last long. But a good meal isn’t the reason we’re writing about this night. The reason is the company that hosted it.

Hosting is a decision our clients shouldn’t have to think about
Most of our clients never think about where their website is hosted, and that’s how it should be. What they do notice is a slow site. They notice when the site goes down on the Saturday of their biggest sale of the month. They notice when a customer calls the store to say the website isn’t loading.
Good hosting goes unnoticed. Bad hosting is impossible to miss. Because our name is on every site we build, hosting is one of the most important decisions we make for our clients.
How Cosmick Media became a Kinsta Elite Partner
We have been building websites for more than 25 years. Like a lot of agencies, we started on shared hosting with GoDaddy and 1&1 and outgrew it. From there we moved to our own dedicated servers at Rackspace, which gave us control, but it also meant every server-side problem was ours to solve. Caching, minification, patching, and keeping up with whatever Google PageSpeed was asking for that year all landed on our team. Every hour spent on servers was an hour not spent on our clients’ marketing.
The breaking point was performance under pressure. One of our pet store retail clients was dealing with slow pages and outages during sales events, which is exactly when traffic and revenue matter most. That’s not something you can explain away to a business owner.
So we moved to Kinsta. They later wrote about our migration in a Cosmick Media case study. After that client’s site moved over, page load times dropped by 60% with no downtime. Across the agency, the time we spend on site maintenance went down by about 40%, and we now manage more than 200 websites on the platform without adding server headaches to go with them.
What Kinsta actually gives our clients
“Fast and reliable” is something every host says. Here is what it means in practice for the sites we manage on Kinsta’s managed WordPress hosting:
- Serious infrastructure. Sites run on Google Cloud’s high-performance compute machines, with Kinsta’s Cloudflare integration adding a global CDN, edge caching, a firewall, and DDoS protection at no extra cost.
- Uptime that’s monitored, not assumed. Kinsta checks every site around the clock and backs uptime with an SLA, so problems get caught before a customer finds them.
- Real people on support, 24/7. When something goes wrong late on a Friday before a holiday weekend, we’re talking to an engineer who knows WordPress, not working through a script.
- Safer changes. Free staging environments let us test updates and new features before they ever touch a live site, and automatic backups mean there’s always a way back.
- Better troubleshooting. Kinsta’s built-in APM tool shows us exactly which plugin, query, or outside service is slowing a site down, so we fix the cause instead of guessing.
- One place to manage everything. The MyKinsta dashboard and its role-based access let the right people on our team work on the right client sites, which matters when you’re responsible for hundreds of them.
None of that shows up on a client’s invoice as a line item. It shows up as a website that loads quickly, stays online during their busiest weekend, and doesn’t need an emergency fix in the middle of a promotion.
What it means to be a Kinsta Elite Partner
Cosmick Media is an Elite Partner in Kinsta’s Agency Directory, the highest tier of the Kinsta Agency Partner Program. We earned Kinsta Elite Partner status through the number of client sites we host with Kinsta. As a Kinsta Elite Partner, we also work with a dedicated partner manager who knows our account and our clients.
It’s also why we were at The Dandelion. Partner dinners like this one are where the relationship becomes more than a hosting account. Sitting across the table from the people behind the platform, and from other agencies dealing with the same client problems we are, is how we stay ahead of what’s coming instead of reacting to it.
What we brought home as a Kinsta Elite Partner
Two things stuck with Carley and Kim after the night was over.
First, AI came up constantly, but not in the “it’s going to change everything” way. The most interesting tools people described were small and practical: internal apps that save their teams a few hours a week. That matches how we’ve been building our own software, including the AI Chatbot we built for client websites.
Second, the best vendor relationships feel like partnerships. Kinsta didn’t spend the night pitching anything. They put a group of people who do the same work in one room, took the phones away, and let the conversation happen. That’s a good reflection of why we’ve stayed with them.
Thank you to Jordan Jones and the whole Kinsta team for a great evening. Kinsta is taking these dinners to Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, Vancouver, and Calgary next. If you run an agency in one of those cities and get the invite, go, and leave your phone in the car.
