Project overview

Furrylicious is a puppy boutique and pet shop at 531 US Highway 22 East in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, open every day and trusted by families since 2010. Owners Cindy Knowles and Stephanie Earl are known for small and toy breeds, mixed breeds and specialty puppies from USDA licensed breeders. We designed and built the boutique puppy store website for Furrylicious.

The store sells an experience as much as a puppy. Families come for the relaxed visiting rooms, the concierge style service and the premium products on the boutique shelves. So the website had to feel like walking through the front door, then make it simple to call, email or book a visit about a specific puppy.

Project write-up

Owners Cindy Knowles and Stephanie Earl are known for small and toy breeds, mixed breeds and specialty puppies from USDA licensed breeders. The store sells an experience as much as a puppy. Families come for the relaxed visiting rooms, the concierge style service and the premium products on the boutique shelves. So the website had to feel like walking through the front door, then make it simple to call, email or book a visit about a specific puppy.

A boutique puppy store website that matches the store

Furrylicious draws shoppers from across central New Jersey, Long Island and Manhattan. For instance, a family in Manhattan wants to see the exact puppy, ask a question and set up a video call before driving out. The site needed to make every one of those steps one click away.

The brand already had a sweet, upscale look with its script logo, pink badge and chocolate brown lettering. So we built on it. Cormorant Garamond headlines with italic dusty rose accents sit on warm cream backgrounds, while Montserrat and Open Sans handle the details. In addition, soft photography of puppies with roses and pastel props carries the boutique feel through every page.

What the Furrylicious site does

We built a custom WordPress theme around the puppy listings and the store’s concierge service. Here is what it includes:

  • Puppy cards with four ways to connect. Each listing shows breed, name, ID, age and gender, plus Call, Email, Book Visit and Video Meet and Greet buttons. Just Arrived badges flag new puppies.
  • Live puppy search. A search overlay in the header finds puppies by breed and suggests popular searches like Goldendoodles, French Bulldogs and Cavaliers.
  • Puppy Concierge. Families who do not see their puppy can share breed, size, color and temperament preferences, and the team searches its breeder network.
  • Pet Boutique page. Featured brands like Merrick, Stella and Chewy’s, KONG and earthbath appear alongside personal shopping, gift wrapping, special orders and gift cards.
  • Financing. A financing page explains the four step application and links to the store’s FormPiper application.
  • Service area pages. Local pages for Bridgewater, Flemington, Somerville, Long Island and Manhattan, plus a Puppies For Sale New York page, reach shoppers well beyond Whitehouse Station.

Built in lead follow up

Likewise, a Join the Furrylicious Family signup on the homepage captures breed and gender preferences, so the store can send new arrival alerts to the right families.

Powered by our own puppy platform

The site runs on WordPress and WooCommerce with our Unified Kennel Management plugin feeding the puppy listings, and our LeadFlow plugin handling lead capture. It is hosted on Kinsta behind Cloudflare. As a result, new puppies appear on the site as the store enters them, and staff can update blogs, FAQs and boutique pages themselves.
