Calming Buddy makes a heartbeat plush for puppies and dogs that get anxious at night, in the crate or on the road. The line now includes the Original Calming Buddy, the smaller Little Calming Buddy, the Calming Cow and the Calming Teddy, plus complete New Puppy Kits. We handled the Shopify ecommerce website design and build for the Calming Buddy website.

The product is simple to use but takes a minute to explain. Shoppers need to understand the heartbeat insert, the reusable heat pack and the lavender scent before they buy. Breeders and trainers also order in bulk and expect their own pricing. So the store had to teach, sell and handle wholesale style orders in one place.

Most visitors arrive with one worry. Their new puppy cries all night, or their older dog panics during storms. For instance, the homepage lists the exact moments the kit helps with: bedtime, crate training, first nights in a new home and travel.

The look had to feel warm and calm, not clinical. As a result, the store uses a cream background, soft sky blue buttons and chocolate brown text that match the orange and brown logo with its sprigs of lavender. Plus, a chunky retro serif headline font gives the product pages a friendly, gift shop feel.

What the Calming Buddy store does

We built the store so a first time visitor can go from question to checkout without leaving the product page. Here is what it includes:

• Product pages that explain the kit. Each page lists what is inside, answers how it reduces anxiety, covers washing and compares the Original to the Little Buddy, which is 25% smaller.
• Size and color options. Shoppers pick Small to Medium or Medium to Large breeds and choose a plush color before adding to cart.
• Cart upsells and free shipping bar. The slide out cart shows how far the order is from free shipping at $45 and offers add ons like the Pup Sling, Puppy Blanket and replacement inserts.
• Reviews on every product. A Loox review feed shows verified buyer reviews and photos, and the homepage adds short quotes from a trainer, the founder and a veterinarian.
• Breeder and Trainer Program. A dedicated page lays out three discount tiers by quantity, each with its own checkout code.
• Flexible checkout. Shop Pay installments and PayPal are offered alongside cards, and every kit comes with a 30 day risk free trial.

The store runs on Shopify with the Shrine PRO theme, and Klaviyo handles email signups and follow up. Therefore, the team can add products, change prices, run sales and update discount codes from the Shopify admin on their own.
