Project overview

Furry Babies Lombard is a puppy store at 170 Yorktown Shopping Center in Lombard, Illinois, open seven days a week. The store matches families with puppies from licensed, regulated and inspected breeders around the country. We handled the puppy store website design and development for the Furry Babies Lombard website, from the live puppy listings to the breeder and veterinary pages.

People shopping for a puppy online want proof before they ever drive to the store. They ask where the puppy came from, who checked its health and what happens if something goes wrong. So the site had to answer those questions in plain view and then make it easy to book a visit.

Puppy store website design that puts sourcing up front

Most visitors are families comparing a few stores at once. For instance, they want to see real puppies with real details, not stock photos and a phone number. They also want to know the store stands behind each puppy after it goes home.

The brand already had a soft, friendly look, so we kept it. Pink and deep berry tones come from the paw print logo. Brush script headings sit over clean Open Sans body copy, and every inner page opens with a split banner that pairs a pink panel with a puppy photo. In addition, the store address, phone number and an Available Puppies button repeat right under each banner.

What we built for Furry Babies

The site is organized around the questions families ask in the store. Here is what it includes:

  • Live puppy listings. Available puppies pull in from the store’s PetKey inventory and can be filtered by breed and gender. Each card shows the puppy’s name, ID number, birth date and Canine Care Certified badge, plus Get My Info and Learn More buttons.
  • Meet Our Breeders. This page explains that breeders are licensed and inspected, and that families receive each puppy’s breeder information and inspection reports. A grid of breeder videos sits below the copy.
  • Canine Care Certified page. A dedicated page walks through the Purdue University program and its five pillars of care, since many of the store’s breeders are certified or working toward it.
  • Veterinary Care and warranties. One page lists what every puppy goes home with, including a microchip, vaccinations and health exams. It also spells out the 30 day warranty and the two year warranty against hereditary or congenital disease.
  • Breed Video Gallery. Visitors who are still deciding can search breed videos from Affenpinscher on down.
  • Lead capture on every page. A Gravity Forms contact form in the footer collects name, email and phone, with an opt in for puppy information and coupons.

Local trust signals

Likewise, an Our Veterinarians page names the partner animal hospitals in Lombard, Glen Ellyn and nearby. Plus, a Furry Babies Families page and customer reviews show real owners with their puppies.

A site the store can keep current

The site runs on WordPress with a custom theme and is hosted on Kinsta behind Cloudflare. As a result, new puppies appear on the listings page as the store adds them to its inventory, while staff can post blog articles and update pages without calling a developer.
