Project overview

Budget Store & Lock is a family-owned self storage company founded in 1997. It runs more than 40 facilities in eastern Pennsylvania, from the Lehigh Valley to Berks County and the Poconos, with eight in Allentown alone. We handled the self storage website design and development for the Budget Store & Lock website, and helped shape the marketing message around it.

With that many sites, the hard part is helping someone find the right one. A renter in Kutztown should not have to dig through Bethlehem listings. So the site had to send every visitor to a nearby facility, show real prices and get them to rent.

Self storage website design for 44 facilities

Most people shopping for storage are in a hurry. They are moving, renovating or clearing out a house. Therefore, they want a location, a unit size and a price, and they want it fast on their phone.

The brand gives the site its look. A bright orange house and key logo pairs with navy buttons for Pay Online and orange for Rent a Unit. Plus, every facility has its own photo, so visitors can recognize the building before they drive over.

Location pages that do the selling

Each facility gets its own page with everything a renter needs to decide. Here is what it includes:

  • Find a Location grid. All 44 facilities are grouped by town, from Allentown to Tannersville, with a photo for each one and a map view.
  • Facility pages. Each page lists the address, phone, office and gate hours, features like CCTV cameras and RV and boat parking, plus an embedded Google Map.
  • Unit size filters. Units can be filtered by small, medium or large, with square footage, monthly rate and a Rent Now button on every row.
  • Online rentals and payments. Rent Now and Pay Online buttons connect to U-Haul’s storage system, so renters can reserve and pay without calling.
  • Storage sizes guide. Illustrated unit sizes from 5×5 to 10×30 explain what fits, from a closet of boxes to a four bedroom home.

Specials and resources

In addition, a site wide banner promotes the current move-in special. Resource pages cover storage tips, supplies sold on site and neighborhood info.

Easy for the office to keep current

The site runs on WordPress with the Divi builder and is hosted on Kinsta behind Cloudflare. As a result, the Budget Store & Lock team can update prices, specials and facility details on their own.
