Project overview

CPP Associates is an IT infrastructure and managed services firm in Clinton, NJ. Cosmick Media rebuilt the company’s WordPress website to make it faster, cleaner and far easier for CPP’s own team to update.

CPP has since moved its marketing site to another platform; the screenshots here show the WordPress build we delivered.

Project write-up

CPP Associates is an IT infrastructure and managed services firm based in Clinton, New Jersey. Its team designs, deploys and supports cloud, data center and security solutions for companies and federal agencies. This IT company website design project started with a rebuild.

When CPP came to us, their WordPress site worked, but their own staff struggled to update it. So the brief was clear. Rebuild the site so it’s faster and cleaner, and make it easy for non-developers to edit.

The problem with the old build

The previous site relied on a tangle of custom post types. A simple text change on a service page meant digging through several admin screens. As a result, updates got delayed or skipped, and pages slowly drifted out of date.

At the same time, CPP’s offer had grown. They needed clear paths for cloud, infrastructure, automation, cyber protection, managed services and partner content.

Our IT company website design

We rebuilt the site on WordPress using Advanced Custom Fields at the page level. Every page now has one editing screen with labeled fields for its headline, text, images and content modules. In other words, if you can fill out a form, you can update the site.

On the front end, we organized navigation around what CPP sells:

  • Cloud, Infrastructure, Automation and Cyber Protection solution pages
  • Services, including IT managed services
  • Partners, Client Resources and the Blog
  • A utility bar with phone, address and email on every page

Speed, structure and SEO

Because we replaced the old custom post type setup with clean templates, the code got lighter and pages loaded faster. We also tightened the heading structure and internal links on each solution page, which helps both search engines and visitors scan the offer.

The homepage used a rotating hero for each core solution. Below it, an “Our Solutions” section gave each service a short summary and a clear next step.

A note on the current site

CPP Associates has since moved its marketing site to a different platform, so the live site today isn’t the build shown here. The screenshots on this page are from the WordPress site we delivered.

What CPP got out of its IT company website design

The biggest win was independence. CPP’s marketing team could publish blog posts, update service copy and swap images on their own, without a support ticket. The site was also easier to maintain, since it had fewer custom moving parts.

The challenge

What the client brought to us.

The original site used custom post types that made simple edits confusing, so updates were often delayed.

CPP’s growing list of cloud, infrastructure, automation, security and managed services also needed clearer navigation.

Our approach

How we tackled it.

We rebuilt the site with Advanced Custom Fields at the page level, giving every page a single, labeled editing screen.

Navigation was reorganized around CPP’s solution areas, with a utility bar for contact details and a homepage that summarized each service.
