Project overview

Color Rite, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturer of color-matched caulks and sealants based in Yukon, Oklahoma. Its catalog includes Color Rite, Poly-Sil, Color Sil, Grout Caulk, Mist-Tool, TR-800 and Sil-Pro.

Cosmick Media built a product-first website that helps contractors and distributors find the right product and color match quickly.

Project write-up

Color Rite, Inc. is a family-owned company in Yukon, Oklahoma. For decades it has made color-matched acrylic caulks and silicone sealants for fabricators, installers, distributors and do-it-yourselfers. When it came to manufacturer website design, Color Rite needed a site as practical as its products. Its slogan says it all: “We Seal The Deal.”

The catch? Color Rite sells hundreds of colors across several product lines, too. Buyers need to find the exact match for a specific countertop, floor or grout. That is why the website has to work like a product guide first and a brochure second.

The challenge

Color Rite’s customers don’t shop by color name. Instead, they shop by the manufacturer of the surface they’re sealing, such as Formica, Wilsonart, Corian, Cambria, Mapei or Shaw.

On top of that, each product line has its own specs and install notes. Contractors also want those details fast, often from a job site. And a lot of orders still come in as purchase orders or forms, not online checkouts.

Our manufacturer website design

We organized the Color Rite website around the product lines, with each one getting a top-level menu item:

  • Color Rite, the core acrylic caulk with over 450 stock colors and same-day shipping
  • Poly-Sil, a 100% silicone sealant for granite, quartz, solid surface and laminate
  • Color Sil, offered in standard, satin and other finishes
  • Grout Caulk, Mist-Tool, TR-800 and Sil-Pro

Next, every product page follows the same pattern. First comes a plain answer to “What is it?” Next come quick links to installation steps and specifications. A sidebar then points to the Product Directory, the cross-reference guide that maps each manufacturer’s color to a Color Rite stock number.

Built around how they take orders

Rather than force an online store, we matched the site to Color Rite’s real sales process. The FAQ explains how to buy through distributors in the U.S. and Canada, or directly from Color Rite. Downloadable order forms are also a click away. In addition, distributors have a dedicated dealer login.

The bold header carries the toll-free number, 1-855-82CAULK, and the “got caulking?” mascot. As a result, the brand feels like a real family business, not a faceless catalog.

Mobile-friendly for the job site

Of course, installers often check specs from a phone. Therefore the menu collapses into a simple “Go to…” selector, and product content stacks into a single readable column.

Manufacturer website design that sells the way they do

Color Rite now has a site that sells the way it does: by product, by manufacturer match and by phone or order form. The layout makes it easy to add new colors and product lines as the catalog grows.

The challenge

What the client brought to us.

Customers shop by the manufacturer of the surface they are sealing, not by Color Rite’s color names. Each product line also has its own install steps and specifications.

Most orders arrive through distributors, purchase orders and order forms rather than an online checkout.

Our approach

How we tackled it.

We gave every product line its own top-level page with a consistent layout: a plain description, installation and specification links, and a sidebar link to the Product Directory cross-reference guide.

The FAQ, downloadable order forms and a dealer login support the way Color Rite actually sells.
